How to Play Neighbours

Objective

Score the most points by creating groups of matching numbers in rows and columns.

Gameplay

  1. Roll the Dice: Click "Roll Dice" to roll two dice and get a number (2-12)
  2. Place Your Number: Click any empty cell on your board to place the rolled number
  3. End Turn: Click "End Turn" to complete your placement
  4. Computer Plays: In vs Computer mode, the computer will automatically place its number
  5. Repeat: Continue until both players' boards are full

Scoring

You earn points for groups of 2 or more matching numbers:

  • Group of 2: (number) × 2
  • Group of 3: (number) × 3
  • Example: Three 5s in a row = 5 × 3 = 15 points

Bonus: Groups count in both horizontal AND vertical directions!

Controls

  • Roll Dice: Generate your next number
  • Undo: Undo your last placement
  • End Turn: Finish placing and pass to opponent
  • Quit: Exit game and return to mode selection

Tips

  • Plan ahead - think about where numbers will match in rows and columns
  • Rare numbers (1, 2, 11, 12) are valuable - place them strategically
  • Groups can span across multiple cells for bigger scores
  • In Computer mode, the AI makes smart placement decisions
